Configuration
Set once, used by every run: how the AI should write for this shop, and what happens to the results.
Every generation job starts from these settings. You can still change anything for a single run inside the job wizard, but what you save here is the starting point — so it is worth spending ten minutes on it before you generate hundreds of texts.
Only the Owner and Managers of a shop see Configuration. Editors and Auditors do not — they work with what you set here. See Team & roles.
Finding the page
- Open the shop you want to configure.
- In the left sidebar, scroll down to the Settings section.
- Click Configuration.
The page is a stack of cards. Each card has its own Save button and saves only itself, so you can change one card and leave the rest alone. Nothing is applied until you press Save on that card.
The Global card
The first card is called Global, with the note “Shared settings applied to every generation module.” Whatever you put here reaches every task — product descriptions, category texts, alt texts and the image prompts alike.
Writing style
A free-text box. This is the single most useful field on the page: it is your house style, handed to the AI with every request.
Write it as instructions to a new copywriter, not as keywords. Good things to put in:
- Whether you address customers formally or informally.
- Who your customers are (“professional bakers”, “parents buying a first bike”).
- Wording rules — brand names you always spell a certain way, words you never want to see, whether superlatives are allowed.
- Length and rhythm (“short paragraphs, no more than three sentences each”).
Do not describe what the shop sells here — that belongs in the shop’s own Description, which you filled in when you created the shop and which is also given to the AI. Writing style is about how to write, the shop description about what you sell.
The job wizard shows a Writing style box prefilled with this text. Editing it there applies to that one run only and never changes what is saved here.
Country for web research
A dropdown. Some tasks can look a product or category up on the web before writing. This setting decides which country’s search results are used, and in which language the search is run.
The default is Follow my shop language, which uses the main language of your shop. Pick a specific country — Germany, Austria, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands or Poland — only if you sell into a market that your main language does not imply. A German-language shop selling to Switzerland is the classic case.
This setting does nothing on its own. It only matters once a module has web research switched on; see The generation modules.
One card per task
Below Global you get one card per generation task your shop has: Product description, Meta content, Multi-field text, Product images, Category description, Category images, FAQ suggestions, Alt text, Image generator. Each card holds the settings of that task only.
Which tasks a shop has is decided by whoever runs this platform, not by you. If a card is missing, that task is simply not switched on for your shop — it will be absent from the sidebar too. That is not a fault. Ask the platform operator to enable it.
What you find in a card depends on the task. The settings that matter to most people are:
- Web research (product descriptions) or Look the category up on the web first (category images) — lets the AI search the web for facts about the item before writing. It costs extra credits per item, so it is off by default.
- Keyword research (product descriptions, meta content and multi-field text) — steers the text towards phrases people actually search for. This only appears if the keyword-research add-on is enabled for your shop; otherwise the whole block is hidden.
- Mark images as AI-generated and its text, position, style and size — on the three image tasks. This is the watermark; it is explained in full on the modules page.
- Write result to — where the finished text lands in your shop. See below.
- The prompts themselves, on the alt-text task: System prompt and User prompt.
Every field has a short explanation printed underneath it. Read that first — it is written for the same audience as this page.
What the “default” badge means
Next to a field label you will often see a small grey default badge. It means: this field has never been touched, so it uses the value the platform ships with.
The badge disappears as soon as you save your own value. It is not a warning — the defaults are chosen to be sensible and most shops leave most of them alone. It is there so you can tell at a glance which settings are yours and which are still the factory setting.
Advanced fields (expert mode)
Some cards contain more fields than you can see. Technical knobs — the raw prompts on the text tasks, creativity and length limits, the keyword-research tuning, watermark opacity — are hidden unless you switch expert mode on.
They are hidden because they have good defaults and because getting them wrong quietly degrades every text you generate. Hiding them does not reset them: whatever is stored stays stored, and keeps being used.
To show them, open Settings in the sidebar (the one under Account, not the shop’s), find the Expert mode card and tick Enable expert mode. There is a faster route too: the avatar menu at the bottom of the sidebar has an Expert mode entry with an On/Off badge. Full details on Personal settings.
It is a setting on your user account, not on the shop. Turning it on does not change what your colleagues see.
Where the finished text is written
Product and category description tasks have a setting called Write result to. It decides which field in your Shopware shop the generated text ends up in when you send it over:
- Product description (or Category description) — the normal description field, the one your customers read on the product page. This is the default.
- Custom field — a text custom field of your own. Useful when you want to keep the text you have today and put the AI version somewhere beside it, for example to compare the two before switching over, or to feed it into a template of your own.
The Target custom field dropdown on this page cannot list your fields, because the list has to be fetched from the connected shop live. If you want to write into a custom field, set it up in a template instead — the template form offers the real list of text custom fields from your shop. Choosing Custom field here without naming a field simply falls back to the normal description.
The destination is frozen into a job when the job is created. Changing it afterwards does not retarget a job that already exists. Each row on a job page states its destination in plain words (“Goes into the product description”), and the confirmation page before sending lists it again under Gets written into. See Sending content to your shop.
The Approval card
The last card is Approval, with the line “Gate push behind an explicit approval step.” It has a single checkbox: Require approval before push.
Leave it off and anyone with push permission can send generated content straight to your shop. Turn it on and only items that someone has explicitly approved may be sent — unapproved items are silently skipped when a push runs.
Turn it on if content goes live under someone else’s responsibility: an agency generating for a client, a junior colleague drafting texts, a shop where legal or brand people need the last word. It is off by default because it adds a step to every publication.
Approval requests can be created at any time, whether or not this switch is on. The whole flow — requesting, the approver’s inbox, comments, the emails — is described on Review & approval.
Press Save on this card to apply the change. Your shop overview shows the current state under Shop details as Approval before push: Required or Not required.
Where to go next
- Want different settings for different runs — a short version and a long version, say? Use Templates.
- Ready to generate? Generating content walks through the job wizard.
- Curious what each task actually produces? The generation modules.
